Assoc. Prof. İlhan Karabıçak

I completed my medical education at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (1992-1998). I received my general surgery assistant training at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine (1999-2004).

Between 2005 and 2007, I worked as a researcher/observer doctor in the liver-kidney transplantation and liver-pancreas surgery center at New York University Mount Sinai Hospital.

I passed the United States Medical residency exams (USMLE) in 2007. In April 2008, I started to work as an assistant professor at Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.

Between October 2008 and October 2010, I received sub-branch training in liver and kidney transplantation at New York University.

In September 2010, I was a doctor for 2 weeks in the liver - pancreas and cancer surgery unit at New York Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital.

I became Associate Professor of General Surgery in September 2012. On November 22, 2012, I passed the European General Surgery board exam and got the FEBS title.

Between 1 May - 30 June 2016, I worked as an observer doctor in the liver-pancreas surgery department of Japan Kansai Medical University.

I left Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in January 2017 and have been working at Samsun VM Medical Park Hospital since March 2017.

My main areas of interest are cancer surgery (liver, pancreas, stomach, colon, rectum, breast), laparoscopic surgery, liver - pancreas and biliary tract surgery, hot chemotherapy (HIPEC) and obesity surgery.
