Endoscopic Brow and Midface Lift
- Endoscopic Brow and Midface Lift
First of all, hello. I am Associate Professor Dr. Cem BAYRAKTAR, an expert in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Head and Neck Surgery.
Let's take a brief look together at brow and midface lift surgeries.
As we age, natural changes occur in our faces, which are referred to as 'aging physiology'. Some of these changes include sagging and puffiness in the upper and lower eyelids, drooping brows, diminished prominence of the cheekbone and jawline, increased sagging and wrinkling in the cheek-nose transition area, and a loss of both volume and gravitational descent of subcutaneous fat tissue in the midface region leading to depressions.
The endoscopic brow and midface lift procedure is a surgical technique that can be performed together, utilizing a camera inserted through the scalp skin, leaving no visible scar, and is effective and long-lasting. The risk of numbness in the skin is lower compared to wide incisions. The fundamental procedure involves lifting the sagging areas along with the thin layer of muscles underneath the skin and, if necessary, removing excess skin. As with all surgeries performed with endoscopic assistance, these cases are less traumatic compared to traditional procedures, resulting in a faster healing process and relatively less swelling. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient can be discharged after a one-night stay in the hospital.
This procedure can be performed alone or in combination with nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). By relocating the sagging cheek fullness back onto the cheekbones, a desired younger and tighter appearance can be achieved. Although similar applications such as thread lifts with barbed sutures can be performed without surgery and under local anesthesia, their effects are much shorter-lived compared to surgery, often resulting in less and temporary tightening and lifting. Additionally, these barbed sutures dissolve over time and lose their lifting properties, necessitating repeat procedures at intervals. Along with a long-lasting and more permanent solution, we particularly recommend endoscopic brow and midface lift surgery for the middle-aged patient group.
Wishing you healthy and beautiful days ahead...
