What is Parathyroid?

  • What is Parathyroid?

Parathyroid glands are organs located in the neck. There are two parathyroid glands in both the right and left parts of the throat, opposite each other. The parathyroid gland is located behind the thyroid gland. Thyroid glands are located parallel to each other on both sides of the trachea. These glands are located in the inner part of the trachea on the posterior surface of the glands. The largest size of the parathyroid glands is 7 mm. is around. To describe visually, they are organs that are the size of a lentil.

The most important feature of these glands is the secretion of hormones into the body. This hormone, called the PTR hormone, ensures that the developmental activities in the body work properly and the metabolism works properly. It is the task of parathyroid hormones to regulate the amount of calcium in the body. This shows that it has a great contribution to bone development. It is responsible for maintaining the calcium balance between these organs, which are connected to the bone, kidney and digestive system, and the blood circulation. As long as the parathyroid hormone is secreted at a normal level, it is easier to expel the calcium that the person has taken through food through the intestines. This calcium is taken into the blood immediately. A balance is ensured in the entry and exit of calcium from the bones through the blood. Finally, it is also effective during the filtration of calcium through the kidneys and its excretion through the kidneys. Calcium is mostly found in the bones in the body. Calcium is always needed for bone development of the person or for development depending on bone development. In parathyroid hormone disorders, the amount of calcium supplied to the bone through the blood will deteriorate, leading to bone resorption. Bone resorption occurs as a result of low secretion of parathyroid hormone. If this hormone is secreted too much, the calcium level in the blood rises. This increases the amount of calcium that will pass through the kidneys, causing kidney stones. Continuously forming kidney stones show formations that lead to kidney failure in advanced stages. Therefore, the parathyroid is of great importance in terms of human health, in terms of carrying out its metabolism in a sound and correct manner. People with thyroid conditions should also have their parathyroid checked. Because these two cloth bags are working together by sticking to each other. Any disorder experienced in one section can spread to the other area.
