I have prepared an article in which you can find answers to many questions that you might have been hesitant to ask about labioplasty, a part of women's aesthetics. Let's read it together.

What is Labioplasty?

In the inner part of our genitalia, there are two parallel structures known as labium minus or inner lips. These structures are also referred to as the inner labia. Due to hormonal changes or other factors, these inner labia can sometimes take on an asymmetrical, larger, or saggy appearance than normal. Our patients sometimes refer to this condition as "elephant ears." Inner labia hanging out from between the outer lips can cause considerable discomfort from an aesthetic perspective. In addition to this, effects like odor due to sweating, recurrent infections, sticking to underwear, discomfort when wearing tight clothing, and sticking to pads during menstruation can also arise. With the labioplasty procedure, we correct the abnormal appearance of the inner labia and achieve an aesthetic look.

As a result, our patients not only get rid of the physical discomfort caused by this appearance but also increase their self-confidence, distancing themselves from any problems that may arise in their sexual lives. Moreover, they can leave behind any embarrassment they may have felt towards their partners.

How is the Labioplasty Procedure Performed and How Long Does It Take?

  • The labioplasty procedure is performed after deciding which technique to use based on the examination. It is usually done under local anesthesia, but general anesthesia can be preferred based on the patient’s preference. This procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes. If there is excess skin on the clitoris, the surgery known as “hoodoplasty,” which involves the removal of excess skin on the clitoris, can also be performed.

Do I Need to Stay in the Hospital or Take Time Off After Labioplasty?

  • Labioplasty is a same-day surgery. You can go back home the same day and return to work the next day.

Will I Experience Severe Pain After Labioplasty?

  • Generally, it is a surgery with a comfortable recovery period. Many of our patients report that they do not need to use painkillers.

Will My Stitches Be Removed After Labioplasty? Will There Be Any Scarring?

  • We use absorbable sutures, so there is no need to remove stitches. The suture material dissolves on its own. There is almost no visible scar left after the surgery.

Will I Experience an Increase in Pleasure After Labioplasty?

  • Especially when the "hoodoplasty" procedure, which involves the removal of excess skin on the clitoris, is performed, the mechanical pressure effect on the clitoris is eliminated, leading to an increased rate of orgasm reported by our patients after the surgery.

Can I Have Labioplasty Along with Vaginoplasty?

  • Certainly. We can solve both problems at the same time.

What Should I Pay Attention to After Labioplasty?

  • Using the prescribed medication regularly, adhering to hygiene rules, taking showers as advised by your doctor, abstaining from sexual intercourse for a month after the surgery, refraining from swimming in the sea or pool for a month, and avoiding sports activities for a month are important.

From What Age Can Labioplasty Be Performed?

  • With parental consent, it can be performed from the age of 16, and from the age of 18, it can be performed based on the individual's preference and decision.

How Should I Choose My Doctor?

  • A gynecologist who is experienced in this field, specializes in cosmetic gynecology, and has received the necessary training should be prioritized.

Will I Experience Numbness After Labioplasty?

  • When performed with appropriate techniques by an experienced surgeon, numbness is not expected after labioplasty. On the contrary, especially when performed along with the "hoodoplasty" procedure, an increase in sensation may occur.

What Are the Risks of Labioplasty Surgery?

  • Possible complications such as bleeding or infection may occur in the early stages of LabioPlasty surgery. In the medium and long term, risks such as asymmetry, changes in urinary flow, loss of sensation, complete removal of the lips, or insufficient reduction may exist. However, when performed by an experienced surgeon, these risks are kept to a minimum.

I Had Labioplasty Surgery Before, but I Am Not Satisfied with the Appearance. Can I Have Another Surgery?

  • You can have a revision surgery, but you should wait for an average of 3 months.

Does Labioplasty Prevent Me from Having a Natural Birth?

  • No, it does not prevent you from having a natural birth. There is no negative effect on giving birth.

I Am Coming from Another City. Can I Have My Surgery on the Same Day and Go Back?

  • It is a same-day surgery, and you can go back home the same day.
