The Importance of Secure Attachment
Secure attachment is one of the cornerstones of children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. A strong attachment relationship not only builds trust between parent and child but also enhances the child’s ability to explore, learn, and express themselves. At Ohana Psychological Counseling Center, we are here for you at every stage of this journey, from pregnancy to adolescence.
Connecting with Your Baby: Nurture and Play©
The foundation of the mother-baby bond is laid during pregnancy. Through our specially designed Nurture and Play© group sessions, held with expectant mothers during pregnancy and mothers with babies aged 2-6 months postpartum, we focus on fostering the relationship between mothers and their babies. These sessions provide psychological support tailored to mentalization, attachment processes, and the emotional needs of mothers, helping them establish a stronger connection with their babies.
The Importance of Play in Babies
Play is the most effective tool for children to express their emotions and develop social skills. Our play groups, designed for babies aged 9-48 months, provide a unique space where attachment and development come together. Guided by our expert psychologists, these structured groups track developmental progress, create a secure relational environment, and utilize play to understand children’s worlds and enhance their developmental skills.
Building a Strong Bond and Relationship with Your Baby: Theraplay®
In our development and attachment-focused groups for children aged 9-48 months, as well as our relationship-focused play groups for children aged 3-5 and 6-8 years, Theraplay® games play a central role in strengthening and rebuilding secure relationships. Theraplay® is a structured play therapy method that helps the child and parent reinforce their bond and establish a secure relationship. These groups focus on the social and emotional needs of the child while aiming to strengthen the parent-child bond. Through fun, relationship-based activities, we support children’s self-confidence and help them feel valued. Additionally, we guide parents to manage attachment processes in a healthier way.
