Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia)

Types of hair loss show a wide variety, the most common of them is Androgenetic Alopecia, which is also known as the male type among the people. Androgenetic Alopecia, which is the most common type of hair loss among women, has not been fully resolved, the biological mechanism behind it has not been fully resolved. Dihydrotestosterone hormone transforms the hormone DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) into a side hormone, which binds to the receptors in the hair follicles and damages the hair follicles to a great extent. It accumulates in the hair capillaries and prevents the hair from being fed. Since the DHT hormone is also a hormone that can be found in women, androgenetic alopecia is also seen in women for this reason, and men can start with this baldness problem with puberty. 25 percent of men go bald in their 30s, and the likelihood of baldness increases with age. It is scientifically known that male pattern hair loss is hereditary. The determinant of this situation will be our genes. Scientists around the world are conducting many studies and billions of dollars are spent on R&D. Since there is not much variety in treatment methods, people think of planting, first of all, the evaluation of the hair loss patent is a very important point for the success of the treatment.

Hair Loss in Women

Hair loss seen in women is seen as general hair loss. In general, thinning and thinning of the hair starts first and then shedding occurs. Since hair loss in women is usually in the form of a cycle, it does not disturb the person, this cycle continues with the loss of hair and its re-growth. Hair loss, which is chronic, can be a sign of a serious underlying health problem. Women experience intense hair loss, especially during the transitions of the seasons. Every person experiences this situation to a certain extent. Hair loss of more than 50-100 strands indicates the underlying disease. It has an important place for the success of the treatment to determine the hair loss patent in women. It can be difficult to determine the causes of hair loss in women, among these reasons;

  • Thyroid Diseases (hyperthyroid)
  • Hormones
  • Skin Diseases
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Vitamin and mineral deficiency
  • Systemic and used drugs
  • Products used as cosmetics

Treatment methods

There are two FDA-approved drugs used in male pattern hair loss. These are known as minoxidil and finasteride. The working mechanism of minoxidil is mainly to accelerate blood circulation and accelerate hair production by stimulating the expansion of capillaries and awakening the hair follicles that have not been completely destroyed. Minoxidil can be used in lower doses in women. Another drug used for male pattern hair loss is finasteride, and it was seen that finasteride, which was first used in the treatment of prostate cancer, stopped hair loss. Its working mechanism is to prevent the 5 alpha-reductase enzymes from binding to hair receptors by preventing it from turning into Dihydrotestosterone. Finasteride, which is widely used among men, is a hormone therapy and should be used under the supervision of a doctor, and its use in wrong doses can cause adverse sexual side effects. Apart from these treatments, there are also treatments applied directly to the hair. Treatments such as PRP and Mesotherapy also provide benefits in hair loss seen in women. It can be applied in serums with stem cell extracts, which have recently been released. If the treatments at hand are insufficient, the person may consider hair transplantation. Hair transplantation is generally a preferred transfer procedure for men, to put it simply, it is the transfer from the area where there is a lot of hair to the area where there is little or no hair. In male pattern shedding, the hair in the nape area is not affected by the DHT hormone, so it does not shed throughout life. In hair transplantation, the hair in the nape area is transferred to the balding area.
