An overreaction in the body by the immune system is called an allergy. There are many factors that trigger the emergence of allergies. The most known of them are; pollen, bee venom, pet dander.

Individuals with a properly functioning immune system only produce substances called antibodies against harmful substances. People with allergies, on the other hand, produce antibodies to trigger substances, even if they are not harmful.

When the allergic person comes into contact with the trigger, the allergen, the immune system reacts. These reactions can be:

  • Reddening of the skin
  • Redness or swelling of the sinuses
  • Sensitivity in the digestive system

The types and severity of allergic reactions shown differ from person to person. Reactions can range from irritation to anaphylaxis to shock.

The quality of life of people with allergic sensitivity decreases. At the same time, it is a serious illness that threatens their lives and needs to be taken care of.

Even if there is no known treatment method for every type of allergy, the person should definitely take precautions with methods that will reduce the reactions shown.

Why Do Allergies Happen?

Allergic reactions are when a person's immune system perceives substances that can be considered harmless as dangerous substances. The immune system produces antibodies for the detected substance.

Although the triggers of allergic reactions vary from person to person, the most common allergy triggers are as follows;

  • Pollens
  • Animal feathers
  • Dust and mites
  • Mold in the air
  • Peanuts, tree nuts
  • Wheat, Soybean
  • Fish and shellfish
  • Dairy products and eggs
  • Bee (wasp, bumblebee)
  • Insect stings

The substances and reactions to which each individual reacts are different. Children with a family history of hay fever, eczema, and hives are more likely to have health problems such as allergies, allergic asthma and asthma.

What Are the Symptoms of Allergy?

The most common symptom of allergic reactions due to substances is obstruction of the respiratory tract and sensitivity in the skin and digestive system.

Each type of allergy has different symptoms. However, the most common symptoms can be listed as follows;

  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Sneeze
  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Swelling and redness in the eyes
  • Flow on the palate
