What is Adenoid?

The adenoid is a tissue located between the nasal cavity and the throat. The growth of this tissue is especially common in children and can cause problems such as snoring, nasal congestion, and sleep apnea. In people with adenoid enlargement, this tissue is usually removed by a surgical procedure called adenoid surgery.

What is Adenoid Evaporation?

During adenoid surgery, adenoid vaporization method can also be used. In this method, adenoid tissue is evaporated by using a special device and thus tissue removal becomes easier. The evaporation process is performed by giving a special energy to the adenoid tissue and generally less bleeding and less pain occurs after the procedure. However, this method may not be suitable for everyone and you should discuss this with your doctor.

What is Nasal Meat Evaporation with Plasma Method?

Adenoid evaporation with plasma method is a technique used during adenoid surgery. In this method, adenoid tissue is evaporated with plasma energy using a special device. Plasma is a state formed by the ionization of gaseous substances at high temperatures. With high temperature, the tissue is evaporated.

What are the Advantages of Nasal Meat Evaporation with Plasma Method?

Evaporation of adenoids with the plasma method has many advantages:

  • More precise treatment: The plasma method provides a more precise treatment of tissue. In this way, the surrounding tissues are less damaged and the healing process can be faster.
  • Less bleeding: Plasma method carries less bleeding risk compared to other methods. In this way, the risk of post-operative bleeding is reduced and the patient is provided with a more comfortable recovery process.
  • Faster recovery: Surgery performed with the plasma method usually provides a faster recovery process. In this way, it may be possible for patients to return to their normal activities more quickly.
  • Short-term process: Adenoid evaporation with the plasma method can be completed in a shorter time compared to other methods. In this way, patients may need to stay in the hospital for less time after surgery.
  • Less pain: The plasma method causes less pain than other methods. In this way, it may be possible for patients to have a more comfortable post-operative period.

What are the Disadvantages of Nasal Meat Evaporation with Plasma Method?

Evaporation of adenoids with the plasma method has some disadvantages:

  • Technical requirements: Plasma method requires special devices and these devices have high cost. Therefore, the centers where this method can be applied are limited.
  • Risk in unsuitable patients: The plasma method may not be suitable for every patient. The plasma method may not be successful, especially in cases such as large adenoids or previous adenoid surgeries.
  • Side effects: Although the plasma method has fewer side effects than other methods, it still has some risks. In particular, complications such as pain, burning sensation, bleeding or infection may occur after surgery.
  • Adequate treatment may not be provided: Plasma method alone may not be sufficient for the treatment of adenoid problems. In some cases, other treatments or surgeries may also be required.
  • Post-operative scars: Although the plasma method leaves less scars than other methods, post-operative scars may still remain.

In addition to these disadvantages, since each patient is different, the most appropriate method for the treatment of adenoid problems should be determined by the doctor.
