What are the Similarities Between Gastric Botox and Gastric Balloon?

Gastric Botox and Gastric Balloon; They are two different methods that help to lose weight with a number of applications made into the stomach. Both of these methods are procedures performed with endoscopy. Endoscopy is a procedure that allows the examination of the digestive system, which includes the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and large intestine, with the help of a device called an endoscope, which has a small lighted camera at the end.

These two methods have similar properties. Both methods are effective for an average of 6 months. In both methods, it is aimed and predicted to lose 15 - 25 kilos in an average of 6 months. In this respect, both methods are among the methods of rapid weight loss. Both methods make it easier for the person to diet by prolonging the time of satiety and thus help to lose weight.

Gastric Botox Application

How Is Gastric Botox Applied?

In gastric Botox application, the patient comes to the hospital hungry on the day of the procedure. Endoscopy is performed on an empty stomach under sedation. Botox injections of 200 to 300 units are made to approximately 24 regions of the stomach. The aim here is to reduce the contraction of the stomach muscles, to ensure that the eaten food stays in the stomach for a longer time and to prolong the satiety period, thus providing a more comfortable diet. In addition, thanks to the injections made into the region of the stomach called the fundus, the secretion of the hunger hormone called ghrelin released from the stomach is prevented and hormonal satiety is provided. The effect of Stomach Botox lasts up to 6 months. Stomach Botox can be applied 2-3 times in total at 6-month intervals. After the procedure, the person can continue his normal life during the day.

What are the Negatives of Stomach Botox?

Rarely, some complaints can be seen after the procedure. These temporary complaints are nausea, abdominal pain and bloating.

Gastric Balloon Application

How is the Gastric Balloon Applied?

In the gastric balloon application, the patient comes to the hospital without eating or drinking anything on the day of the procedure. First, endoscopy is performed under sedation. If a serious ulcer or gastritis is not seen in the stomach as a result of endoscopy, the procedure is started. A specially produced balloon is placed in the stomach. The balloon is inflated by filling with 450 – 600 cc of liquid as we think the person can tolerate. This balloon takes up space in the stomach and creates a feeling of satiety. With this feeling of satiety, it allows the person to follow the diet and lose weight quickly in this way. In patients who underwent gastric balloon application, 15 - 25 weight loss is predicted in 6 months. A few hours after the procedure, the person can go home and return to his daily routine.

What are the Negatives of Gastric Balloon?

Some people may experience bloating, nausea and cramp-like pain for a few days after the procedure. During this period, the patient is given medications for his complaints. In most patients, a situation that requires removal of the balloon does not occur in the early period. After 6 months, endoscopy is performed again and the balloon is removed. If necessary, a new balloon can be reinserted at the same time after the previous balloon has been removed.

What are the Differences Between Gastric Botox and Gastric Balloon?

As a result, both gastric botox and gastric balloon procedures are procedures performed with endoscopy. With both methods, 15 - 25 weight loss is predicted in 6 months. Both methods facilitate dieting by creating a feeling of satiety. In this way, it is ensured that the person loses a healthy weight. In the gastric botox procedure, unlike the gastric balloon, there is no need to perform a second endoscopy and remove the balloon. The procedure is performed with a single endoscopy. In addition, since no object such as a balloon is placed in the stomach, there are no complaints such as nausea, cramps, gas pains. In addition, gastric botox application provides a much more economical advantage than gastric balloon.
