What is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?

  • What is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?

Invasive Ductal Carcinoma is the size of the tumor that determines the stages of breast cancer. It is also taken into account whether the cancerous tissue has spread to another place. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer is staged from 0 to 4 as in all breast cancers. Stage 0 has evidence of lesions that may be precursors of breast cancer. During this period, the diagnosis of breast cancer cannot be made. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma manifests itself at this stage. If it is not apparent at 0, it is evident in the detection of tumor size smaller than 2 cm in stage 1 period. The tumor did not spread elsewhere at this stage. If the tumor tissue cannot be intervened in the 1st stage, it will gradually grow to 5 cm. It can reach up to a stage and carries the cancer status to stage 2. At this stage, although the amount of tumor cells is not high, they can spread to the armpit glands. The presence of a large number of underarm glands symbolizes stage 3. Stage 3 is a serious stage and requires immediate intervention. In the last stage, stage 4, breast cancer spreads to other organs. For this reason, in Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer, as in every breast cancer, early diagnosis increases the chance of survival for the person's life.

Breast cancer seen as ductal and diagnosed as invasive ductal breast cancer is the most common type of breast cancer we encounter. Invasive ductal breast cancer was diagnosed in 8 of 10 breast cancer patients. Expressing it as ductal carcinoma also means that it starts in the cells located in the membrane of the milk ducts of the breast and spreads towards both the ducts and the membrane. It is expressed as a type of cancer that spreads to the entire breast tissue. In addition, if treatment is not seen in the last stage, it may spread to other organs.

In the treatment of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer, surgical removal of the cancerous tissue is based. After the surgical operation, the patient undergoes radiotherapy and chemotherapy, depending on the stage of the cancer. In some cases, she also undergoes hormone therapy and biological therapy. These treatment options are not single-stage, but can be performed collectively in some cases. In addition to each treatment method, drug treatment options are applied.
