  • What Should You Know About Breast Cyst?

There is a possibility that breast lumps may be cancerous. Therefore, it is extremely important. First, the hard or softness of the mass in the breast is checked by hand examination. Hard masses are more likely to be cancerous tissue. Soft masses, on the other hand, have a very low probability of being cancerous cell tissue since they are water-filled vesicles. After the manual examination, an ultrasound examination is performed. In this examination, it is distinguished whether the mass is water-filled or a hard and cancerous structure. There is a 40-year age limit for breast ultrasounds. Breast ultrasound up to the age of 40 and mammography after the age of 40 is the path that patients follow in the breast cyst follow-up process.

In both breast ultrasound and mammography, it is understood whether the mass is a cancerous tissue. The reason for the 40-year age limit for mammography is that the breast is active until the age of 40. If mammography is performed in cysts in an active breast structure, the benign cell can be transformed into a malignant cancer cell. For this reason, it is expected that the active and self-renewing structure of the breast will be passed at the age of 40 in mammography shots. Breast cysts are mostly composed of non-malignant tissues called fibrocystic.

If a mass is found in the breast and it is suspected to be a carcinogenic tumor, a small piece is taken with fine needle biopsy and sent to pathology. If the result from the pathology indicates that the part is a malignant mass, the diagnosis of breast cyst cancer is made. If the result from the pathology is benign, however, this situation is not reliable. The examination is repeated with a larger biopsy. Wide biopsies consist of incisional biopsies or thick-tipped needle biopsies. If cancerous tissue is found when biopsy is performed with the incision, the breast cyst should be surgically removed. If the mass is small, only that portion is removed. If the mass is large and cancerous tissue has spread to the breast, it must be completely removed. It is extremely important to regularly check the breasts for early diagnosis in cases of breast cysts and to go to the physicians regularly to be examined. Early diagnosis not only protects the body integrity of people, but also saves their lives.
